Services
Meeks Environmental Services, LLC is a family owned business celebrating more than 60 years of exceptional service in central Alabama.
Bobby Meeks started the business in 1957 while he was an Alabama State Trooper.
As the demand for a reliable septic tank service grew along with the population, Bobby left his trooper position and went into the pumping business full time.
He also was a founding member of the Alabama Septic Tank Association.
Bobby's son, Steve, served as president of the association, which is now known as Alabama Onsite Wastewater Association, from 1991 to 1993.
Meeks Environmental Services can provide septic tank, grease trap and pump tank cleaning, mortgage company requested inspections, tank locating services, pump repair / replacement, peat moss system maintenance and many other homeowner needs relating to their septic system.
We keep permanent records of all jobs, so we can tell you the last time your tank was cleaned.
We can also advise you of the frequency with which your tank needs to be cleaned based upon the tank size and number of people living in the house.
Meeks Environmental Services provides grease trap cleaning for both small indoor and large outdoor traps.
Jefferson County requires inside grease traps to be cleaned every two (2) weeks and outside, inground tanks to be cleaned every three (3) months.
We can set you up on a schedule to keep up with your traps so you don't have to.
INDOOR - Indoor grease traps are typically up to 50 gallons and normally need to be cleaned every two weeks.
OUTDOOR - Outdoor grease traps are typically 1000 gallons and normally need to be cleaned every three months.
Typically a 2 or 3 bedroom home will have a 1000 gallon tank and a 4 or 5 bedroom home will have a 1500 gallon tank.
Larger homes may have multiple tanks.
The health department recommends every 3 to 5 years for a family of 4. For a person living alone, every 8 to 9 years is sufficient.
A sewer gas smell typically means there is a dry trap somewhere that is allowing gas to enter a home from the septic tank.
If you have a seldom used fixture (laundry sink, downstairs shower, guest bath sink, etc.), the water in the trap may have evaporated.
Meeks environmental has close to 30k residences we serve in helping maintain their septic systems.
With each customer receiving service once every four years on average, we have the opportunity to serve more than 100 homes weekly.
Each customer has the opportunity to provide feedback on their service.
