Franklin Associates
Franklin Associates has provided Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Solid Waste Management consulting services since it was founded in 1975 by William E. Franklin and Marjorie A. Franklin. We have provided these services to clients in the public and private sectors ever since. Franklin Associates' professional staff is made up of engineers and physical scientists.

In 2003, we became Franklin Associates, A Division of ERG (Eastern Research Group). This association provided a great deal of synergy between the two firms, which had worked together for many years. We take pride in providing objective, well documented results and advice to our clients. The many clients who have used our services repeatedly over the years give testimony to our integrity.
Services
Franklin Associates is well-known nationwide as a consultant providing services in Life Cycle and Solid Waste Management.
Our work in these areas helps to preserve and sustain the environment.
We have a broad spectrum of clients including federal agencies, state/regional agencies and organizations, associations/institutions, and corporations.
Franklin Associates provides life cycle services that track and identify the true costs and environmental impacts of products or processes, revealing areas where improvements and cost reductions are needed to maximize company profits and minimize environmental burdens.
Franklin life cycle studies are conducted following ISO standards 14040 and 14044.
For more than 20 years, we have accumulated unique U.S. databases of both life cycle assessment and solid waste management information.
License agreements for internal business purposes can be obtained to utilize the data in the Franklin Associates' Life Cycle Inventory database, models, and datasets.
Managing solid waste effectively requires a thorough understanding of the waste, the community or organization producing the waste, and the alternatives available.
Franklin Associates offers that understanding to both its public and private clients.
Franklin Associates is not involved in the business of solid waste disposal.
As a result, our recommendations reflect what is best for your bottom line.
For many years, Franklin Associates has prepared the national characterization of municipal solid waste (MSW) published by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in Municipal Solid Waste in the United States and widely used by planners.
As part of a two part series, the first part of this study, developed with the US Environmental Protection Agency, provided detailed global warming and summary results for all environmental impacts assessed for five food waste recycling and disposal systems.
The recycling and disposal systems studied were anaerobic digestion (AD) of food waste and biosolids (codigestion) at a wastewater treatment facility (WWTF), windrow and aerated static pile composting (ASP), landfilling, and waste-to-energy (WTE) incineration.
